JP's Description: It's well known that italians love their cars. However it's not only the fast and sporty Ferraris, Maseratis or Alfa Romeos they are passionate about, they also have a love affair with the dinky little Fiat 500.
It was with this in mind that I understood the often repeated image on the Italian news of a Serbian tank crushing the little Italian-made car in a Bosnian town, during the war in ex-Yugoslavia.
It had more effect to elicit the indignance of the nation than if it were instead a Bosnian Muslim man being run over.
So I thought I'd make a piece, a beat up car front headlights and grille - as my own small tribute - to all people and things that get in the way of tanks.

I am not sure I would have seen a car here without your explanation, but you sure brought tears in my eyes with the concept behind it.

I've always had that problem Maria... the finished work isn't much to look at, despite the initial intent being clear and having a specific aim.
Painting is my way of fighting ( actually defense) I suppose, but I've yet to figure out how to use the weapon.
One day I hope to make works that communicate without requiring a story to be told.
Many thanks for your comment.
